Jerry Thomas Potts

Mr. Jerry Thomas Potts, 62, of Cana Road, Mocksville, died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 at his home.
He was born Oct. 2, 1954, in Iredell County. He was a member of Courtney Baptist Church. He was retired from Ingersoll-Rand after 43 years. He loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them things. He was fond of his puppies, Wally and Otis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wilbert Potts; grandparents, Frank and Ada Tayes Potts and Leslie Smoot Shelton Sr. and Abbie Baity Shelton; and a brother-in-law, Terry Hamm.
Survivors: his mother, Bettie Jean Shelton Smith of Mocksville; 2 children, Thomas Shane Potts of Mocksville and Amanda “Muff” Haneline (Dana) of Harmony; 4 grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Potts, Coleman Haneline and Logan Miller; a stepdaughter, Lea Ireland of Mocksville; and a sister, Patricia Potts Hamm of Carolina Beach.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30 at Courtney Baptist Church in Yadkinville. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29 at Eaton Funeral Home.
