Edna Laura Booie Baity, 84, of Mocksville, died on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at Yadkin Nursing Care Center.

A Davie County native, she was born Aug. 23, 1932, the daughter of the late William David Booie and Lula Kate Brown Booie. She graduated from high school in the Davie County Public School System. She worked in the finishing department of Drexel Heritage Furniture C. for more than 25 years, and was a member of Courtney Baptist Church.

Survivors: her husband of more than 60 years, William Ray “Bill” Baity Sr.; a son, William “Ray” Baity Jr. and wife Bonnie of Mocksville; and a grandson, Shaun Baity.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bud Booie, and a sister, Ruth Haitt.

The celebration of life service was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Courtney Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Capps and Dr. Darrell Cox officiating. The family received friends one hour before the service in the church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were David Booie, Jeff Booie, Barnie Joe Booie, Eric Booie, Kenneth Baity, Wesley Baity and Doug York.
