‘Greatest Sports Heroes’ at library Monday

Davie County Public Library’s summer reading program, “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ” is winding down.

Youth may sign-up for reading incentive programs any day until Aug. 8, which allows one last week of opportunity to earn prizes for reading.   

On Monday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m., Bright Star Touring Theatre will present “The Greatest: Sports Heroes A-Z.” Bright Star is a professional touring theatre production company from the mountain region of North Carolina.

On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., elementary kids may compete in friendly Olympic-style games. From  2 -3:30, Legos and games will be available.

On Wednesday, families are invited to bring lunch or snacks at 11 a.m. for Munchin’ at the Movies showing  “Minions, “ PG 91 min. and at 1 p.m. Snackin’ at the Cinema features the “Hunger Games: Mockingjay II,”  PG13, 137 min.

On Thursday Ranger is available 11-noon for 15-minute appointments.

Friday is Pre-school Story Time at 11 a.m.

Ranger will be available for 15-minute appointments on Saturday from 11-noon. To schedule appointments, email Julie Whittaker at  jwhittaker@daviecountync.gov.

The final celebration, sponsored by The Friends of the Library, is Monday, Aug. 15, at 6:30 p.m. Friends will serve ice cream sundaes and Ryan Short will entertain with balloon sculptures. All youth registered for the Summer Reading Incentive programs and summer volunteers are invited.
