Twins Peyton and Patterson Jones of Advance celebrated their 18th birthday on Sunday, April 17 by skydiving for the first time.

The jump took place at Piedmont Skydiving at the Rowan County Airport in Salisbury.

They each did a tandem jump with individual instructors within seconds of each other. Peyton jumped first which was an interesting coincidence because he is actually 15 minutes older than his twin sister Patterson who then jumped only seconds behind him.

Patterson smiled and said when she landed: “The whole experience was truly amazing.”

Peyton and Patterson are seniors at Davie County High School in Mocksville. Peyton is a scholar athlete in cross country, winter track and spring track. Patterson is a scholar athlete in women’s varsity basketball and women’s lacrosse.

In the fall, Peyton will attend Lenoir-Rhyne University and Patterson will attend Western Carolina University. Their father is Jeff Jones and their mother is Nicole Jones Slabach, both of Advance. Grandparents are Nelson and Faye Goolsby of Midway and Carolyn Jones of Advance.
