Mrs. Marilyn E. Barbee, 79, of Woodleaf, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Born March 2, 1937 in Davie County to the late Bonnie Williams Everette, she attended Davie County Schools and graduated from Cooleemee High School. Mrs. Barbee was a homemaker. Mrs. Barbee was a member of Woodleaf United Methodist Church.

Surviving: her husband, Joe E. “Ed” Barbee Sr. whom she married Nov. 14, 1955; son, Joe E. Barbee Jr. and wife Amy of Mocksville; daughter, Vanessa Pyrtle and husband Jerry of Woodleaf; and grandchildren, Amanda and Bethany Barbee of Mocksville and Everette Pyrtle of Woodleaf.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13 at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sybil Perrell, minister of Cleveland United Methodist Church/Knox Chapel  Charge. Burial will follow at Woodleaf United Methodist Church Cemetery.
