At their February meeting, members of the Davie County Historical and Genealogical Society honored the memory of Doris Braxton Frye, a previous employee of the Davie County Public Library.

A plaque containing her photograph and accomplishments will hang in the Martin-Wall History Room.  Copies were also given to her son and daughter.

Frye was hired as a typist in the library in 1966. She later helped establish a collection of historical and genealogical information for the History Room where she worked for almost 40 years. She helped researchers in person, by phone, by FAX, by mail and by email. She was active in the Davie County Historical and Genealogical Society, serving as secretary-treasurer and co-editor of the quarterly newsletter.

She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church from 1954-2013.  She and her husband, Avilon Frye, were parents to Keith Frye and Karen Frye Riddle.

Doris Frye died on Aug. 2, 2014.
