William Terry Rothrock

Mr. William Terry Rothrock, 83, of Advance, died on Feb. 11, 2016.

Mr. Rothrock was born March 14, 1932 in Forsyth County to Reuben Rink Rothrock and Nancy Betsy Vivian Campbell Rothrock. He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1951. He  was a general contractor and operated Rothrock Construction Co. until retirement, building residential homes primarily in the Lewisville community. He was a member of Olivet Moravian Church and Men’s Bible Class, and assisted the Men’s Fellowship in maintenance of the church grounds. He was a member of Westbend Masonic Lodge 434 where he held the office of Master in1995. He was honored to mentor incoming lodge brethren and support Masonic charities. He was a member of the Winston-Salem Shrine Club where he was honored as Shriner of the year in 2002. He enjoyed participating in their annual Shrimp and Oyster Roast fundraiser and attending annual Shriner conventions. He transported young patients to the Shriners Hospital for Children. He inspired these same values in his sons and grandsons. His most meaningful impact was the help he extended to many in need. He was often in the position to provide aid in times of distress. He made friends through his wit and friendly nature. Mr. Rothrock briefly served in the U.S. Army where he received an honorable discharge due to an injury. His hobbies included hunting, fishing trips to the Outer Banks, vegetable gardening, and time spent at Lake Norman with his family and friends. Being at his lake home brought him happiness and joy. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Mr. Rothrock was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters: Viola, John, Ethel, Carl, Zelda, Frances, Ray, Lawrence, Lynn, Harry, and Arch.

Survivors: his wife, Roslyn Arthur Peeler Rothrock of the home; 3 children, Chris Rothrock of Clemmons, Terri Rothrock Dyson of Winston-Salem and Zack Rothrock (Camille) of Lewisville; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Rothrock of Advance, Aaron Pope of Winston-Salem, Aaron Rothrock of Clemmons, and Morgan Rothrock of Lewisville; a brother, Charles; a sister, Doris; several sisters-in-law; 2 step-children, Jill Dillon and Brad Peeler; 3 step-grandchildren, Zachary Dillon, Sarah Dillon, and Amy Dillon; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life service was to be held at Olivet Moravian Church on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Allen presiding and the Rev. Doug Rights assisting. The family was to receive friends following the service.  A private burial will be held later.
