Norman Larry ‘Norm’ Carlton

Mr. Norman “Norm” Larry Carlton, 84, of Advance died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 at his home.

He was born Nov. 15, 1931 in Davidson County to Eddie Lee and Gladys Mae Wilson Carlton. Mr. Carlton was a member of Mocks United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and the Korean Conflict for 21 years and was a Davie County Veterans Service Officer for five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Garnette Carlton; and 2 sisters, Norma Lee Kimball and Glenda Smith.   His wife, Betty “Betty Jo” Mock Carlton survived him for a few days before passing away herself.

Survivors: brothers, T.W. Buck Carlton of Winston-Salem and Philip L. Carlton and wife Polly of Salisbury; a sister, Ovella Turner and husband Frank of Statesville;  along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Mocks United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
