Betty Mock ‘Betty Jo’ Carlton

Mrs. Betty “Betty Jo” Mock Carlton, 83, of Advance died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born June 25, 1932 in Guilford County to Elmer Simeon and Julia Belle Marsh Mock. Mrs. Carlton was a member of Mocks United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She retired after 35 years with the U.S. government, of which 28 years were with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Norman “Norm” Larry Carlton; and 2 brothers, Billy E. Mock and Jerry Wayne Mock.

Survivors: several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Mocks United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
