Eugene Faulkner

Eugene Faulkner, 82, widower of Eleanor Neely Faulkner, his wife of 58 years who died on Sept. 3, 2014, died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he was born May 18, 1933, the son of the late James Faulkner and Roberta Crews Faulkner. Mr. Faulkner spent almost his whole life around the Advance area and was a dedicated worker and machine operator in the furniture industry, having retired from Baker Furniture in Mocksville. He was a lifelong Methodist and member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church of Advance.

He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frank and James “Pete” Faulkner.

Survivors: a son, Kenneth E. Faulkner and wife Darnell of Advance; 2 daughters, Deborah Jackson of Advance and Linda Hogan of Winston-Salem; a brother, Ed Faulkner and wife Annie Lee of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, Derick Faulkner (Courtney), Takeila Faulkner, Kenya Faulkner, Quinton Faulkner, Trevon Faulkner and Kaneesha Jackson; and 3 great-grandchildren, Amatai, Akirah and Egypt Faulkner.

The celebration of life service was conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24 at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Ashley White. The family  received friends in the church one-half hour before the service. He was then laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the church cemetery.
