John Edwin Seaford

Mr. John Edwin Seaford, 89, of US 64 West, Mocksville, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born July 30, 1926 in Davie County to the late William Maxie Seaford Sr. and Mary D. Everhardt Seaford. Mr. Seaford was a dedicated member of Center United Methodist Church where he was instrumental in building the church.  He was retired from Ingersoll-Rand and was a farmer.  Mr. Seaford enjoyed working the Center BBQ and had been a volunteer firefighter with Center Volunteer Fire Department.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Pauline “Polly” Peele Seaford; a daughter, Regina Kaye “Gina” Seaford; and a brother, William Maxie “Bill” Seaford Jr.

Survivors: 2 daughters, Norma Robertson (Press) and Nancy Grooms (Willie), all of Mocksville; 4 grandsons, Edwin Robertson (Jen), Jason Robertson (Kim), Heath Grooms (Tiffany) and Seth Grooms; 3 great-grandchildren, Preston Robertson, Kaylee Robertson and Afton Tillman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17 at Center United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Erwin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 16 at Eaton Funeral Home.
