Mrs. Norma Jean Williard Cope, 84, of Advance, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 at her home.

She was born May 4, 1931 in Davie County to the late Fletcher Edward Williard and Lucille Tucker Williard. She was a member of Macedonia Moravian Church and had retired from Hanes Hosiery Mill after 43 years.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Ivan Harding Cope; and 2 brothers, Harold Williard and Fletcher Williard  Jr.

Surviving: 2 sons, Louis Kent Cope (Libby) and Roger Bernail Cope (Wanda); 4 grandchildren, Kevin Cope, Amy Hodges (Evan), Darrell Cope and Kim Thompson (Tony); 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandsons.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28 at Macedonia Moravian Church by the Revs. Steve Craver and Greg Little. Burial followed in the church graveyard. The family received friends following the service.
