Maurice Earl Anderson

Maurice Earl Anderson, 74, of Statesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House.

He was born in Davie County on July 11, 1941 to the late Charles Roy and Elmina Renegar Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Harmony High School and was married to Grace Creedmore Anderson, who survives. They had more than 54 years of marriage before his passing. He was a partner in C.R. Anderson Lumber Co. and was owner/operator of Anderson Logging before his retirement. He was past president of the North Davie and the Cool Springs Ruritan clubs, and was Past District Governor of the Piedmont Ruritan. Mr. Anderson was a faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Gray Anderson.

Survivors: his wife, Grace; a son, Jeffery M. Anderson of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Marcia Lynn Wortman (Derick) of Highmore, S.D. and Carrie A. Biehler (Devin) of Statesville; 6 grandchildren, Lea A. Renegar, Crystal Cover, Caleb Anderson, Tyler Wortman, Jacob and Jonah Biehler; 4 great-grandchildren, Garrett Renegar, Hunter and Brecken Cover, and Reily Wortman; 3 brothers, Charles Anderson of Winston-Salem, and Jerry and Donald Anderson, both of Mocksville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Hebron Baptist Church with the Revs. Darren Johnson and Ken Thomas officiating. Burial followed at Sandy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. David Kiser officiating. The family visited with friends Tuesday evening at Hebron Baptist Church.
