William Eugene “Gene” Foote, 74, died Dec. 20 in Forsyth Medical Center.  He had been in declining health.

He was son of the late Esaw Foote and Lucy Dulin Foote. He was raised by  Will H. and Juanita Dillard.  He was educated in Davie County Schools and was self-employed as a plumber.

Survivors: sisters, Josephine Foote and Margaret Lewis, both of Mocksville, and Lazora Williams of Durham; a special niece, Wanda Dalton, with whom he lived; other relatives and friends.

His funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home. Pastor Nettye I. Barber will officiate and Bishop James Ijames will do the eulogy. Burial will follow in St. John AME Zion Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.
