Joe Stanford Greer

Joe Stanford Greer, 73, of Mocksville, husband of Janice Whiteside Greer, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Greer was a native of Watauga County, born April 26, 1942, to the late Walter Greer and the late Zora Parsons. He retired as a band saw operator with Lexington Home Brands and Halls Manufacturing.

Survivors: 3 sons, James Greer (Darlene) of Cooleemee, Michael Greer (Dawn) and Billy Greer (Cindy), both of Mocksville; 6 step-children, Candice Kimmer of Concord, Crystal Mayhew (Larry) of Virginia, Carla Coates of Thomasville, Martin Kimmer and Carrie Kimmer, both of Salisbury, and Matthew Kimmer of Cooleemee; a brother, Mack Woodring of Woodleaf; a sister, Billy Jean Cheeks of Salisbury; plus 22 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Jerry Ray, and 2 sisters, Lucille Ray and Susie Burris.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 at Davie Funeral Service Chapel. A celebration of life service will be at the funeral chapel at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, officiated by the Revs. Sam Jones  and Daniel Gambles. Burial followed in Legion Memorial Park in Cooleemee. Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Dale McCrary, Josh Greer, Billy Joe Greer, Matthew Kimmer, Adam Greer and Tony Greer.
