Free family-oriented holiday events are planned for Saturday, starting with the Advance Christmas Parade at 10 a.m. and ending with WinterFest in Downtown Mocksville that afternoon.

The Advance parade, sponsored by the Advance Fire Department, begins at Shady Grove Elementary School. Parade entrants should be there by 9 a.m. It travels on Cornatzer Road, turning right onto NC 801, then left onto Peoples Creek Road before disbanding.

WinterFest is from noon-6 p.m. at Junker’s Mill, at the end of Depot Street in Downtown Mocksville.

Sponsored by the Mocksville Tourism Development Authority, it will include the 31-foot tall, 90-foot long inflatable “Snowzilla Jr.,” designed to simulate a ride down a snow-covered hill. It will also include a 40- by 50-foot maze featuring vibrant colored snowmen, twists, turns and roadblocks.

There will be a bounce house, hay rides and balloon crafts. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
