Remember those simpler time, when a highlight of Christmas for children was getting a treat bag with a piece of fruit, a couple of nuts and a piece of candy after a church service?

That service, of course, included the reading of the Christmas Story from The Bible. It included plenty of singing of Christmas Carols.

Relive those times Saturday at the “Old Time Cooleemee Christmas” beginning at 5 p.m. at the Zachary House at Old 14 Church St.

Sponsored by the town and the Cooleemee Historical Association, the evening will include a visit from Santa, homemade refreshments, free hotdogs and drinks and more. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate for Toys for Tots.
