Mr. Jackie Monroe Soots, 77, of NC 801 South, Cooleemee, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

He was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Davie County to the late Nancy Soots.

Mr. Soots had been raised by his maternal grandparents, Katie W. and Mitchell Soots with the help of a special aunt, Mary E. Soots. He retired from Fiber Industries after 31 years of employment. For 13 years prior to Fiber, he had worked at Erwin Mills.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Janet Link Soots; and his mother-in-law, Lola M. Link; his maternal grandparents; and his special aunt.

Survivors: his daughter, Cindy McDaniel and husband John of Cooleemee; 2 granddaughters, Johnna Parsons and husband, Jason and Julie Snow and husband, Kenny; a grandson, Will McDaniel; 5 great-grandchildren, Madalyn McDaniel, Jack Broadway, Emma Grace Snow and McKinlee and Jackson Parsons; a special niece, Shirley Link Grimes; and telephone friends, Dallas Moore, John Martin and Shorty Cartner.

A graveside service was to be conducted at noon Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mocksville with the Rev. Stan Riddle officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Eaton Funeral Home.
