Veterans Day observance Wednesday

The Mocksville-Davie Veterans Day observance will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in Downtown Mocksville at the Veterans Memorial Monument.
The Davie High Band will provide patriotic music, and the JROTC will present the colors.
All veterans from any branch of the military, and active duty military, are invited and will be recognized. Residents are encouraged to come and show their support for the military.
In case of inclement weather, the observance will be held at Davie Senior Services, Meroney Street, Mocksville.
Young people are invited to enter essay (middle and high school age) and poster (elementary age) contests on the topic, “How should we honor true heroes?” Winners will be recognized at the ceremony.
The posters should, on the back, contain the entrant’s name, age, school and telephone number; essays must be no more than 1,000 words, types, double space, and on the back of the last page, contain name, age, grade, school and telephone number.
