  • Miss Nellie Marguerite Williams, 84, passed away Monday November 2, 2015, at Trinity Elms in Clemmons.

She was born December 21, 1930, in Mocksville to the late Roy E. Williams and Lovie Ellis Williams. Nellie was a member of Smith Grove United Methodist Church and attended regularly until her health did not allow.  She graduated from Mocksville High School and attended Draughn’s Business School in Winston-Salem. Nellie spent all of her life in the Smith Grove Community of Davie County and often remembered fondly living and growing up on a dairy farm with her three brothers and three sisters. Over the years, she enjoyed playing with nieces, nephews and cousins when they came to visit and they loved her in return. She loved singing and playing the piano and sang on a Christian Radio Broadcast in her youth. In spite of being born with her handicap, spina bifida, she loved life and lived it to the fullest in her own way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Ellis; and two sisters, Dorothy Williams and Frances Girlene Caudle.

Survivors include one sister, Inez Williams; one brother, Nathan Eugene “Gene” Williams and his wife, Jean of Rock Hill, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 8, at Smith Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darren Crotts officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for Smith Grove United Methodist Church, 3492 US Highway 158 Mocksville, NC 27028, Memo: Backpack Buddies.
