Virginia Lewis Church

Mrs. Virginia Lewis Church, 98, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born May 27, 1917 in South Boston, Va. to Annie Cassada Lewis and Jefferson Columbus Lewis. Mrs. Church was a faithful member of Fraternity Church of the Brethren since 1938.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert Garvey Church; a daughter, Margaret Marie Church Porth; brothers and sisters, Lenwood Lewis, Pattie Bane, Estelle Miller, George Lewis, Raleigh Lewis, David Lewis, and Aileen Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Survivors: 2 daughters, Mary Church Raker of Winston-Salem and Eva Hord (Chris) of Garner; a son-in-law, William Robert Porth; a sister, Helen Fare; grandchildren, Peggy Richardson (Rich), William A. Porth (Jennifer), Rodney Porth (Stacy), Kenneth Fulk Jr. (Sharon), Karen Sparks (Sammy), Kelly Whitley, Kathy Hayes, Evert Hord (Cheryle); great-grandchildren, Maddie Richardson, Ana and Drew Porth, Ella Grace and Ashlyn Porth, Krystal Sparks, Sammy Sparks Jr., (fiancée, Whitney), Kristin Pegram (Brian), Haley Fulk, Frankie Whitley (Stephanie), Ann-Marie Privette (Rob), Brandi Smith (Renny), Shyanne Hayes, Lori Byrd (Bryant), LuEva Willis (Kyle), Chrissy and Jesse Hord; great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Leah, Kyleigh, Alex, Kenly, Dexter, Silas, Dakota, Boaz and baby Pegram due in March.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at Fraternity Church of the Brethren with Pastor Paul Stutzman and the Rev. Robert Williard officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
