Amelia Agnes ‘Auntie’ Kent

Amelia Agnes “Auntie” Kent, 96, of Advance, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., she was born May 2, 1919, the daughter of the late Karl Kornakowska and the late Frances Rembisz Kornakowska. She had become a resident of North Carolina approximately three years ago when she moved here to live with her only nephew. Ms. Kent had a successful career in the insurance industry where she retired as a supervisor with Aetna Insurance Co. after 35 years. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and had attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Hyde Park, N.Y. She was active in volunteer organizations as long as her health permitted.

Survivors: her nephew, Frederick Walter Marion (Carol) of Advance; her great nieces and nephews, Sandy Keane (Mike), Dawn Allex (Kenneth) of Monroe, N.J., Debra Marion and Brian Marion (Jamie), both of Advance, and John Marion (Vickie) of Merrick, N.Y.; and her great-great nephews and nieces, Jessica Keane, Kevin Keane, Danny Allex, Ken Allex, Tim Allex, Casey Marion, Ivy Rose Marion, Maria Myers and Jasmin Myers.

She was also preceded in death by twin brothers and a sister, Carolyn Frances Marion.

The family will receive friends at Davie Funeral Service Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov, 5. A Mass of Christian Burial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville officiated by the Rev. Father John Starczewski.
