A couple has been arrested for multiple sex offenses against a child in an investigation by Clarement and Mocksville police.

The investigation concluded last week with the arrests of Jamie Walter Merritt, 34, of Tobaccoville and Amy Norris Branch, 34, of Maiden, both charged with multiple counts of first degree sex offense on a child. Branch was also charged with two counts of felony child abuse involving a sexual act.

Branch was arrested by Claremont police and taken into custody in lieu of a $650,000 bond. Merritt was arrested by Mocksville police and taken into custody in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

Mocksville Police Detective lt. P.A. Reagan reported  that incidents happened while the couple lived in an apartment complex off Milling Road.
