Karen Dianne Stockton Pompey died on May 2, 2015.

“Rat” or “KP” as she was known, was born on Feb. 2, 1965 to Howard and Azalee Stockton. At an early age she joined Erwin Temple CME Church and as a youth served in the choir and usher board. She attended public schools in Davie County and was a graduate of Davie County High School. For more than 20 years, she worked at PPG as a computer tech until her death. On Nov. 12, 1987 she married Curtis Yolanda Pompey. Shopping, cooking, reading, making pies, taking pictures, getting her hair and nails done, taking trips and spoiling her children and grandchildren were her hobbies. She was the life of every party. She remained true to herself and kept it real. She was a fashion diva and stood up for what was right, especially when it involved her family.

She was preceded in death by James Harrell “Pops” Rhynehardt, grandparents Levander Bill and Lillian Pruitt, Robert and Rosetta Stockton, and Thomas and Millie Rhynehardt.

Survivors: her husband of the home; a son, Elder Kevin “Dewan” (Veronica) Stockton of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Shamika “Punkin Head” Yolanda Pompey of Raleigh and Shandra “Shan” LaKesha Wilson of Lexington; her parents of Mocksville; brothers, James H. Stockton, Darryl Stockton, both of Mocksville, Stanley (Flora) Rhynehardt and Earl (Falecia) Rhynehardt, all of Raleigh; 7 grandchildren who she gave nicknames upon seeing them at birth depending on how they looked and acted, Za’Miaz “Noodle” Boger, Kez’Maron “Peanut” Stockton, America “Crybaby” Stockton, Syrenity “Sue” Mitchell, Karissma “Tater” Stockton, Amarion “Man Man” Stockton, J’Shan “Mr. Brown” Mitchell, her “sizzling seven;” and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
