Patty Rae Fishel Hendrix

Mrs. Patty Rae Fishel Hendrix, 76, of Mocksville, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 10, 1938 in Forsyth County to Mertie Allen Fishel and Clyde William Fishel. She graduated from Griffith High School in 1958 and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 31 years of service. She loved playing softball, working with her flowers and helping others. Mrs. Hendrix was a member of Cornatzer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang  in the choir and was known for her chicken pies.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilburn and Roger Fishel. Surviving are her husband of 57years, G Vernon Hendrix, Sr.; two daughters, Lonna McDaniel (Billie) of Mocksville and Donna Davis (Ronnie) of Advance; one son, G Vernon Hendrix, Jr. (Jamie) of Advance; eight grandchildren, John McDaniel, Tiffany, Travis, Luke and Krystal Davis and Jake, Hunter and Addison Hendrix; three sisters, Virginia Davis, Peggy Lewter and Juanita Troutman, all of Winston-Salem and one brother, Sidney Fishel of Emerald Isle, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Cornatzer United Methodist Church with Rev. Shane Young and Rev. Jack Luther officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
