Brenda Hunter, clerk to the Davie County Board of Commissioners, announced earlier this month she is retiring on May 1.

The announcement made new board member John Ferguson wonder what is going on. It was the third retirement since he came on board in December.

“It’s of some concern,” he said.

Commissioner Dan Barrett said Hunter has done an “awesome job” and been “a wonderful public servant.”

“Brenda, I don’t know what to say,” said Commissioner Mark Jones. “You’ve done an outstanding job. May God richly bless you.”
