 Grover G. Bledsoe Jr.

Grover G. Bledsoe Jr., 90, of Lancaster, died on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care. 

He was the husband of the late Janice (Moore) Bledsoe. Born in Abingdon, Va., he was the son of the late Grover G. Bledsoe Sr. and Mary O. (Wilbar) Bledsoe. He graduated from Fulton High School in Lancaster County and Penn State University. He owned Bledsoe’s Cabinet Shop and later became an instructor at the Willow Street Vo-Tech School for Millwork and Cabinet Making. After his retirement, he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Education in Harrisburg. He was a member of the Masonic Washington Lodge 156 where he held honors of 32nd degree. He was a volunteer of the Eden Fire Company, an elder at First Presbyterian Church where he was also a Sunday school teacher and usher, served as president and board of director for VICA (SKILLS USA), was head advisor for Lancaster County School of Career and Technology and elected as president of Homestead Village’s Resident Council. He enjoyed spending time with family, model trains, traveling, reading, woodworking for his family and church, and his dog, Amy. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and most recently was a regular attendee of the Church of Apostles UCC.

Survivors: his three daughters, Barbara Snyder (Barry) of Mount Joy, Pa., Karen Kirkpatrick (Michael) of Mocksville and Kristina Hoskins (Stephen) of Brownstown, Pa.; grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Kevin, Bryon, David and Megan; great-grandchildren, Ayla and Evan; a brother, Rodger Bledsoe. 

He was predeceased by his sister Rosalind Morton and brothers Joseph and Richard.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service at First Presbyterian Church at 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, May 30, at noon. A viewing will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Little Britain Presbyterian Cemetery.
