Mrs. Margie Ruth Barnes Lowery, 79, of Sunset Drive, Mocksville, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at her home.
She was born June 30, 1934, in Davie County to the late Lillie Mae McIntyre and John Alexander Barnes. Mrs. Lowery was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Cooleemee. She enjoyed working in her flowers and going to flea markets. Mrs. Lowery enjoyed cooking, baking, camping and traveling. Mrs. Lowery retired from Drexel Heritage and then was employed with the CAP program where she loved assisting others needs.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christal McDaniel Houck; a great-grandson, Ryan Martin; and 3 sisters, Florence Trexler, Anne Cranfill and Irene Eubanks.
Survivors: her husband, Jimmy D. Lowery of the home; 4 sons, Roger McDaniel (Kathy), Terry McDaniel (Ann), Randy McDaniel and Mark Daniel; a stepdaughter, Tammy Jean McClamrock (Kent), all of Mocksville; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Orbison (Cory), Amanda Clark (Joe), Dylan McDaniel and Jesse McDaniel; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Louise Blackwood of Cooleemee and Maggie Hutchins of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was to be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 8,at Edgewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Blankenship officiating. Burial was to follow in Rose Cemetery. The family was to receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Eaton Funeral Home.
