J. Lee Campbell

J. Lee Campbell, 92, of Jonesville, died on April 30, 2014 at Pruitt Heathcare in Elkin.
He was born to Roscoe and Pearl Groce Campbell of Yadkinville on July 7, 1921. He was the oldest of eight siblings.
Survivors: his wife of 72 years, Ruby Hurt Campbell of the home; a son, Larry (Gail) Campbell of Mocksville; 2 daughters, Barbara (Steve) Smith of Mocksville and Sharon Howard of Jonesville; 4 granddaughters, Deena (Chris) Burris of Winston-Salem, Rhonda (Brian) Duggan of Charlotte, Melissa Jackson of Edmond, Okla., and Amanda (Brad) Lagle of Mocksville; 8 great-grandchildren, Austin and Luke Jackson of Edmond, Carson and Ally Duggan of Charlotte, Abby and Ava Burris of Winston-Salem, and Carter and Ethan Lagle of Mocksville; siblings, Lorene Mendenhall of Mooresville, Lola Mae Oliver of Hamptonville, Georgia Carpenter of Mooresville, Graham Campbell of Boonville, Kenneth Campbell of Jonesville, and Byron Campbell of Yadkinville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Campbell of Boonville.
Mr. Campbell served in Europe in the US Army during World War II. He retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church where he served as church clerk and Sunday School superintendent for many years.
Funeral services were at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church Saturday, May 3. Visitation was followed by the funeral and graveside service with military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the N.C. National Guard beginning at 4 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Revs. Phillip Link, Perry Link and Linwood Campbell will assist in the graveside service.
