New school positions hire announcement possible Monday

The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education could make personnel announcement at Monday’s meeting after its closed session, according to Chairman Dr. Richard Miller.
Salisbury High School and Henderson Independent High School are both looking for principals, and the board is also searching for an assistant superintendent for operations.
If Superintendent Dr. Lynn Moody presents candidates for any of these positions, the board could make a final decision.
Also in closed session, the board will get an update from its attorney on the ongoing budget mediation with county commissioners, according to its agenda.
In addition, Assistant Superintendent for Administration Nathan Currie will review updates to the student transfer policy.
Currie said that unlike last year, when they changed the length of transfer duration, there shouldn’t be any major changes to the policy.
“We look at it each year in the annual review,” he said. It allows the board to “tighten the policy” and gives new board members the opportunity to review the policy.
Other action items on the meeting’s agenda include a field trip request from China Grove Middle School; a name for the Carter Furniture building; the second reading and approval for personnel policies and a settlement agreement with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for Rowan County Early College installation and setup expenses.
The board meets at 5 p.m. at the school system administrative offices, 110 S. Long St. in East Spencer.
