The Mocksville Junior Legion baseball team won two of three games last week to close out the nonconference part of the schedule at 7-4.
The week didn’t start so well, with Mocksville losing 7-1 at Kernersville. Mocksville had won three in a row, racking up 39 runs during the streak.
“We played a sloppy game,” coach Robbie Fox said.
It was a great game for a while. Brian Nellis dropped down from the Senior Legion squad and kept Mocksville in a 1-1 game until “the wheels fell off” in the fifth.
“We brought him down to pitch because he’s young enough to be eligible,” Fox said. “We had several errors (in the fifth). It was an ugly performance. We hadn’t practiced in a week and we were rusty.”

With Lane Snow and Colby Cranfill leading the way, Mocksville rallied past the visiting Mooresville Legends 8-3, improving its record to 3-1 the game after a loss.
Mocksville turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the third, and it never looked back …
