Davie Social Media Soaking Up ‘Google Juice’

There’s some good news on the Davie County blog. And lots of people are going to the internet and finding out what folks around here already know.
Mark Schambach, Davie County’s social media coordinator, is amazed and flattered by the numbers. He’s the guy taking the photos to go on the blog. He’s compiling the information on jobs and he’s the one making sure things are up to date.
The blog is getting 10,000 hits a day. Over the last 60 days, one YouTube video was viewed by people in 105 countries.
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube – Shambach can spout the names and numbers quicker than you can listen. Davie’s Facebook page has 3,428 (probably more by the time this is printed) fans. They see a photo and send it to a friend, who sends it to a friend. “The real power is friends of friends,” he said. “Theoretically, it could be in the hundreds of thousands. Once the ball starts rolling, it picks up speed.”
Schambach started the work about three years ago at the request of Terry Bralley, president of the Davie County Economic Development Commission, and thanks to a grant from the Mebane Foundation that kept it going for the first 18 months. It’s now funded by the commission, the county …
