Looking Back: New Book Highlights Davie In Photographs

What do you get when you put a former history teacher and two photographers together?
Looking Back II Davie County in the Fifties, Sixties, and Seventies – a collection of photos that depicted life in the county during those years.
This is Charles Crenshaw and Ronnie Smith’s second book together.
The first, Looking Back Davie County in the Fifties and Sixties, was a local best seller two years ago.
“We had so many pictures we couldn’t get them all in that one,” Smith says.
“Everybody was saying if it’d been during my time I’d bought one,” Crenshaw adds.
So the two contacted Davie County Enterprise photographer Robin Snow, who contributed pictures she’d taken in the seventies.
“It’s quite an honor for me to have my photos in this book,” Snow says.
The first Looking Back book had around 700 pictures.
Looking Back II has over 750 pictures and includes some newly discovered photos of local businesses like Mocksville Ice Plant, candid scenes from the Masonic Picnic, and resident submitted photos.
Looking Back II is available at Foster Drugs, R&J Sports, Cooleemee Textile Heritage Museum, and Davie County Library and sells …
