Suspects Sought In Home Invasion: Worker Taken Hostage During Three-Hour Ordeal

Two men caught on surveillance cameras robbing an Advance home at gunpoint earlier this week are still being sought by law officials.
According to Davie County Sheriff’s Office Chief J.D. Hartman, on Saturday, March 3, around 12:45 p.m. a call was received reporting the crime.
“One of the victims (a house cleaner) came to the residence on Brentwood Drive in Advance at approximately 10:30 a.m.,” Hartman said.
The owner of the residence was not at home.
Hartman said as the worker arrived she noticed a vehicle backed up to the home’s garage and thought it was a friend of the homeowner.
“As she exited her car two black males came out of the basement with handguns and forced her into the basement,” Hartman said.
Hartman said the two men attempted to force the victim to open a gun safe inside the basement, but she was unable. “They forced her under the stairwell behind the hot water heater and told her to stay there,” Hartman said. “They spent a good deal of time trying to get into that safe.”
Hartman said the two men ransacked the home and the house cleaner’s vehicle.
“They took approximately a couple thousand dollars worth of items,” Hartman said, “Items like firearms and tools.”
