Little League Seeks More Opportunities

Davie County government officials are working with Davie County Little League officials to see how more families can be served at the youth complex off Farmington Road.
County commissioner Mark Jones asked for an update of the talks at Monday night’s board meeting. “They (Little League) have some great ideas,” Jones said.
Board chair Carl Humphrey said he was at that meeting, but nothing concrete was decided. He said they suggested Little League officials go “bank shopping” for possible naming rights – and a cash infusion – similar to the BB&T soccer park built in eastern Davie.
“We are waiting for the Little League folks to get back with us,” he said. “I guess the ball is in their court.”
He said county officials expressed some concern with the cash flow with the Little League.
“The program and what it represents and what it means to kids and families of this county is almost immeasurable,” Jones said. “Certainly, government is not the answer to all problems, but I want to help them in any way we can.”
