Carl Humphrey was elected chair of the county board of commissioners Monday night, and Robert Wisecarver was elected vice chair.
Both came on 4-0 votes. Commissioner Richard Poindexter was present, but did not speak when Clerk Brenda Hunter asked for votes for and against the nominations.
Humphrey’s first action was to praise the work of the former chair, Mark Jones.
“He has done an exceptional job … taking the county forward.”
He mentioned the Evergreen study of county and school operations . “The return on the investment has been huge,” he said. Zero-based budgeting was successful because of Jones’ guidance, Humphrey said.
Wisecarver agreed.
“I would like to commend and congratulate Chairman Jones for all of his accomplishments … and willingness to serve with honesty and integrity,” Wisecarver said …
