Pool Test OKd: Cooleemee Looking At Possibility Of Re-Opening For Swimmers

COOLEEMEE – Last month the Cooleemee commissioners approved $1,500 for a leak test on the public pool, but the decision was not unanimous.
At the Oct. 18 meeting Town Clerk John Chandler told the board that no further plans on re-opening the pool could proceed until a leak test was performed on the underground lines. Mayor Lynn Rumley told the board that she was in favor of the test but wanted to ask the Cooleemee community to have a yard sale and chicken stew this month to raise money to pay the cost back to the town.
Rumley also told the board that matching grant applications for the pool repair could be made early next year.
“I know there’s a number of people dead set against opening the pool, but people at the rec department said a number of people are for it.”
