A proposal by county commissioners has forced the hands of school board members, putting into motion plans for renovating Davie County High School.
In a letter to Superintendent Dr. Darrin Hartness, July 25, Beth Dirks, county manager, proposes: “The funding level for the 2011-2012 fiscal year will remain flat with an annual appropriation of $9,440,718 plus $100,000 for technology totaling $9,540,718.
“This funding is contingent on the submission of a plan to renovate Davie High School to be submitted within a reasonable amount of time. This cost should not exceed $6 million of which the first million must come from the board of education by means of fund balance or lottery proceeds.”
