2 Die, 1 Critical In Crash On I-40

 Two people died last week in the second fatal wreck in a month on Interstate 40 near Mocksville.
Patricia Bennett, 62, of Pfafftown was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident shortly after 1 p.m. on Feb. 24. Arnold Cortez, 69, of Winston-Salem died later that same day after being hospitalized.
According N.C. Highway Sgt. J.R. Allred, the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. and involved four vehicles.
Bennett was driving a small passenger vehicle west on I-40 near the Main Church Road bridge when her vehicle ran off the left side of the road, collided with the median, and overturned onto its top into the eastbound section of the interstate.
Bennett’s overturned vehicle collided head-on with Cortez’s Saturn and then hit a Chrysler passenger vehicle driven by Carolyn McClelland, 77, of Mocksville before spinning into a Toyota Camry driven by Daniel Gough, 22, of Mocksville.
McClelland was taken to  Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem where she remains in critical …
