Attorney Fees Adding Up Dealing With Trio

The Board of Education last week approved a contract for legal services that could exceed $25,000.
Part of those services and fees will reflect the time school board attorney Jill Wilson has spent dealing with Jay Mintz, Randy McDaniel Jr. and Bill Foust.
Between Nov. 15 and Dec. 22, 2010, there were 29 emails exchanged between Mintz and Wilson. There was at least one meeting between Mintz, Wilson and Foust that took place Nov. 22 at Wilson’s office in Greensboro, and Mintz said he planned to have McDaniel accompany him to the Cherry Street office to request documents.
Wilson charges the board $240 per hour. If each email took three minutes to either read or respond to, the charge would be almost $360. A 30-minute meeting would cost $120.
That bothers Chris Anderson, resident and former county commissioner, who had the stack of emails in his hand when he addressed the board Jan. 4.
