Man Going To Prison On Drug Charges

A man arrested on drug charges at a school last  year has been sentenced to more than 23 years in federal prison.

Chuckie Dale Wood, 49, of Hamptonville was sentenced in the middle district of federal court on Aug. 18 by Judge N. Carlton Tilley.

In addition to the 23 and a half year sentence, Wood will have eight years supervised probation following his release.

Wood pleaded guilty to possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine, according to Davie County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Chris Shuskey.

Wood was arrested in September, 2009.

Shuskey said Wood’s arrest was the result of a six month undercover investigation. “Undercover officers purchased cocaine in excess of one kilo from Wood during that time,” Shuskey said.
