E911 Under Scrutiny

Imagine being a deputy with the Davie Sheriff’s Department.

You stop a vehicle, and the driver starts shooting.

You radio for help.

Silence.

That’s a real possibility in parts of Davie County - one county commissioners hope to solve - and the sooner the better.

The county’s E911 emergency radio system doesn’t work everywhere, and commissioners earlier this month approved a $37,500 study to try to find a solution.

“We live in a dangerous world,” said County Commissioner Ken White, also a former highway patrol officer. “It’s mission critical if we can expedite this study.”
